NCAA GSR DATA

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The NCAA announced on Wednesday (Nov. 20) the overall Division I student-athlete Graduation Success Rate held steady at 91-percent, which continues to be the highest rate ever recorded. Providence College registered a 95-percent Graduation Success Rate in the latest data release.

"In the ever-changing landscape of college athletics, Providence College remains committed to academic success at the highest level and supporting our student-athletes to graduation," Providence College Athletic Director Steve Napolillo said.  "We are extremely proud of our student-athletes and our 95-percent Graduation Success Rate. We will always prioritize academic success as one of the foundational pillars of our student-athlete experience."

Figures released Wednesday reflect graduation numbers among student-athletes who entered college in 2017.

Nine Providence College programs posted a perfect 100-percent GSR for the cohort – men's soccer, men's cross country and track, women's basketball, women's hockey, women's soccer, women's cross country and track, women's swimming and diving, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

Since the implementation of Division I academic reforms initiated over two decades ago — including modifications of initial-eligibility requirements and progress-toward-degree standards, as well as application of the Academic Performance Program — long-term graduation rate increases have been observed overall and across sport and demographic subgroups.

Since 2002, overall student-athlete GSR has increased from 74% to 91%, with notable increases in diverse student-athlete populations.
