Friars Cross Country Teams To Host Friar Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete in the Friar Invitational on Friday, Sept. 5 at the Mark Coogan Course at Highland Park in Attleboro, Mass. It will begin with the women's race at 3:15 pm, followed by the men's race at 4:00 pm. The Friar men and women will race against the University of Rhode Island, Brown University, Dartmouth University, Northeastern University and Boston University.

Men’s And Women’s Cross Country Earn 2024 USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The U.S. Track & Field And Cross Country Coaches Association released its academic awards on Thursday, Jan. 30. The Providence College men's and women's cross country programs each earned 2024 USTFCCCA NCAA Division I Academic Team Awards.  The men's team earned a GPA of 3.60 and the women's squad produced a GPA of 3.35.  In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period. Three Friars were also recognized individually as USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honorees.  In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.

Men’s And Women’s Cross Country Runners Earn All-Region Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I.–The USTFCCA recognized the 2024 All-Region Honorees on Monday, Nov. 18. Six Friars earned All-Region Honors after placing in the top-25 at the NCAA Northeast Regionals at Hopkinton Fairgrounds in Hopkinton, N.H., on Nov. 15.

Men’s And Women’s Cross Country Teams Compete at the NCAA Northeast Regionals

HOPKINTON, N.H.– The Providence College men's and women's cross-country teams competed in the NCAA Northeast Regional race on Friday, November 15 at Hopkinton Fairgrounds in Hopkinton, N.H. The 11th-ranked Friar women's team placed first of 39 teams and was led by senior Kimberly May  (Auckland, New Zealand), who finished third (19:34.32) of 268 runners. By finishing first, the women's team will now advance to the NCAA Championship as the top two teams in each region earn an automatic berth in the NCAA Championship, which will be run on November 23 in Madison, Wis. On the men's side, the Friars placed sixth of 38 teams. Senior Michael Morgan (Sligo, Ireland) paced the Friars, finishing 16th (30:18.71) of 256 runners.
