Field Hockey Blanks Merrimack, 7-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College field hockey team defeated Merrimack, 7-0, in its home opener at Lennon Family Field on Sunday, Sept. 7. The Friars improved to 3-0 on the season, while Merrimack dropped to 0-3.

Field Hockey Prepares To Face Holy Cross And Merrimack

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College field hockey team is scheduled to play a pair of non-conference matches this weekend. On Friday, Sept. 5, Providence will travel to Worcester, Mass. to face Holy Cross at 6:00 p.m. The Friars return to Providence, R.I. to host Merrimack in their home opener at Lennon Family Field on Sunday, Sept. 7 at Noon.

Field Hockey Takes Down Boston University In A Shootout To Claim A 3-2 Victory

BOSTON, MASS. – Providence College and Boston University needed a shootout to decide the winner of the 2025 season opener on Friday, Aug. 29 at New Balance Field in Boston, Mass. The game was tied, 2-2, at the end of regulation and yielded two scoreless overtime sessions before Providence used a 3-1 edge in the shootout to claim victory (3-2). The Friars open the season 1-0, while the Terriers move to 0-1.

TIME CHANGE: Field Hockey vs. Boston University

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College field hockey's season opener vs. Boston University, scheduled for Friday, Aug. 29 has been moved to an 11:00 a.m. start. The change has been made due to thunderstorms that are expected in the region later in the day.

Three Friars Featured On 2025 NFHCA Division I Watchlist For Field Hockey

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Three Providence College field hockey players were featured on the 2025 NFHCA Division I Watchlist, powered by Performance Sports Events (PSE). The NFHCA released its annual preseason watchlist on Aug. 28. Juniors Bo Martina, Macie Pennisi and Florencia Talarico represented Providence College. Pennisi and Talarico earn the recognition for the second-consecutive year. One-hundred and ninety-five student athletes spanning 64 Division I institutions comprised the list overall.
