Basana signed an athletic aid agreement to make her commitment official on Nov. 12.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College women's basketball head coach Erin Batth announced on Nov. 12 that Volide Basana (Kinshasa, DRC) has signed an athletic aid agreement and will attend Providence and compete for the program in 2026-27.
Basana, a 6-2 forward, currently attends Athens Christian School in Athens, Ga. where she will compete in her third and final season in 2025-26. Over the last two years, she has averaged 11.0 points and 9.0 rebounds. During the 2024-25 campaign, she posted career-highs in scoring (12.0 ppg) and rebounding (10.0 rpg) and led her team to a Region Championship and runner-up finish in the State Championship. She is a two-time First-Team All-Region selection and has been the recipient of the team's Hustle Award (2023-24) and Team Defensive Player of the Year Award (2024-25).
"We are excited to add Vovo to our program," Batth said. "She is strong, aggressive, has great work ethic and a high motor. She's a presence in the paint on both ends of the floor and will help us on the boards. In addition to her ability to post up in the paint and score with multiple moves, she also has a solid mid-range game. Defensively, she can guard one through five."
