PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Four members of the Providence College women's hockey team earned Hockey East All-Star honors, as announced by the league on Friday, Feb. 28. Forwards
Reichen Kirchmair (Oakville, Ontario) and
Audrey Knapp (Stevens Point, Wis.) were named First Team All-Stars, while defenseman
Brooke Becker (Orchard Park, N.Y.) earned Second Team honors and goaltender
Hope Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.) was selected to the Third Team. This marks the first time since the 2009-10 season that Providence has had four players earn Hockey East All-Star honors in the same year.
Kirchmair led the Friars in scoring with 37 points (19 goals, 18 assists) and was the only unanimous selection to the First Team. She claimed the Hockey East Scoring Title with 30 points (15 goals, 15 assists) in conference play, becoming the first Friar to lead the league in scoring since Kelli Halcisak in 2002-03. Kirchmair also recorded 10 multi-point games, a +22 plus/minus rating, four game-winning goals and a hat trick on Jan. 24 against Boston College. The junior was named Hockey East Player of the Week three times this season.
Knapp followed closely with 35 points (19 goals, 16 assists) and started every game for the Friars. She tied Kirchmair for the conference lead in goals, becoming the first Friars to do so since Sara Hjalmarsson in 2022-23. Knapp netted her first career hat trick in a 3-2 overtime win against Maine on Jan. 31 and has posted nine multi-point games this season. The Friars are 13-2-0 when Knapp scores a goal.
Kirchmair and Knapp are the first Friar duo to earn First Team honors since Karen Thatcher and Rush Zimmerman in 2004-05.
Becker played all 34 games this season and earned her third career Hockey East All-Star selection. The graduate student led all Friar defensemen with 18 points (five goals, 13 assists) and tallied a team-best three power-play goals. She also earned Army ROTC Defender of the Week honors in January.
Walinski played 32 games, ranking second in the nation in minutes played (1,931:48). The senior posted a 1.83 goals-against average, a .923 save percentage with 707 saves and a 19-10-3 record. She was named Stop It Goaltending Goaltender of the Month in January after an 8-1-0 stretch and recorded four shutouts this season, tying her career high. This marks Walinski's first Hockey East All-Star selection.
