NEW YORK, N.Y. - The BIG EAST announced its postseason major award winners and All-BIG EAST selections for men's lacrosse on May 1. Providence College was well represented among the list of honorees.
Ryan Bell (Smithtown, N.Y.) was a unanimous selection to the All-BIG EAST First Team.
Richie Joseph (Longmeadow, Mass.) also was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team.
Dan Donahue (Weston, Mass.),
Jack Horrigan (Lutherville, Md.) and
Quinn McConnaughey (Cohasset, Mass) each earned All-BIG EAST Second Team honors. The Friars' five All-BIG EAST selections are tied for the most all-time in program history for a single-season. Providence had five Second-Team honorees in 2021.
Bell is the third player in program history to be named to the All-BIG EAST First Team in multiple seasons, joining Jarrod Neumann (2015, 2016, 2017) and Tate Boyce (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019). He started all 14 regular-season games for the Friars and enters the BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse Championship with a team-best 61 points on 15 goals and 46 assists. Bell has made an impact on the program's record books this season, breaking numerous Providence records. The senior attacker is the Providence College all-time scoring leader with 231 career points (66 goals / 165 assists), having passed Ken Leahy '00, who closed his career with 188 points (112 goals / 76 assists). Bell is also the program's all-time assist leader (165), having passed Matt Pymm '99, who closed his career with 102 assists. He also set the single-season assist record (46) this season, breaking his own record (45) which he set in 2024. Bell also set the single-season points record (66) in the final game of the 2024 season. Kyle Ojakian '02 previously set both records with 42 assists and 63 points in 2002. Bell has scored five-or-more points in six games this season, including three games with seven or more. Bell recorded a career-high eight assists in the team's season opener versus Holy Cross (Feb. 1). He currently ranks first in the BIG EAST and first among NCAA Division I players in assists per game (3.29). He also leads the BIG EAST and ranks 14th among NCAA Division I players in points per game (4.36). He was honored by the league five times during the regular season on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll (2/3, 2/10, 3/10, 4/28). Bell was also named BIG EAST Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and earned USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason All-American Third Team, Nike Lacrosse Media Preseason All-American Honorable Mention and Nike Lacrosse Midseason Media All-American Honorable Mention honors. He was also named to the Tewaaraton Watch List for a second-straight year. Bell was recently honored as Providence College Male Athlete of the Year for Team Sports at the 64
th Annual All-Sports Gala on April 28.
Joseph enters the BIG EAST Tournament ranked third on the team in scoring with 43 points on 33 goals and 10 assists. The junior attacker eclipsed 100 career points this season (117) and is tied for 18th on the Providence all-time scoring list (86 goals / 31 assists). Joseph has scored in 11 of the 13 regular-season games he appeared in for the Friars in 2025, including nine multi-goal contests. He recorded five hat-tricks, including a career-high eight-goal performance in the Friars' season opener versus Holy Cross (2/1). Joseph is currently tied for second in the BIG EAST in goals per game (2.54) and ranks eighth in the BIG EAST in points per game (3.31). Joseph was honored by the league three times, including Offensive Player of the Week (Feb. 3) and Honor Roll on two occasions (2/17, 4/14). He was also named the USA Lacrosse Player of the Week on February 4 and received Preseason All-BIG EAST First Team honors.
Donahue has started all 14 regular-season games in goal for the Friars in his first season with the program after transferring from Union College. He has tallied 153 saves, paired with a .522 save percentage. The graduate transfer has registered eight double-digit save games, including a season high of 15 saves on two occasions against Bryant (Feb. 8) and No. 19/17 Fairfield (March 1). Donahue ranks third in the BIG EAST in saves per game (10.79) and fifth in save percentage (.522). He was recognized by the league on the Honor Roll on three separate occasions (2/3, 2/10, 2/24).
Horrigan has started in all 14 regular-season games for the Friars and enters the BIG EAST Tournament second on the team in scoring with 49 points on 41 goals and eight assists. The senior attacker is tied for 14th in career scoring with 138 points (114 goals / 24 assists) and ranks third in career goals (114) in program history. Horrigan has scored in 13 of 14 games this season and tallied 12 multi-goal games. He netted seven hat-tricks, including a career-high seven goals in the team's regular season finale versus St. John's (4/25). Horrigan ranks first in the BIG EAST and is tied for 16th among NCAA Division I players in goals per game (2.93) and ranks fifth in the BIG EAST in points per game (3.50). Horrigan ranks first among NCAA Division I players in man up goals with 11 on the season. He was honored by the league four times on the Weekly Honor Roll (3/17, 3/31, 4/22, 4/28).
McConnaughey has started in all 14 regular-season games as the primary faceoff man for the Friars. The senior has compiled a 161-282 record from the faceoff 'X' on a .571 faceoff percentage. He registered marks of 19-29 versus No. 19/17 Harvard and 12-19 at No. 16/16 Denver. McConnaughey has tallied a team-high 76 groundballs and has scored six points on two goals and four assists. He ranks first in the BIG EAST in groundballs per game (5.43) and fourth in faceoff percentage (.571). McConnaughey was named BIG EAST Specialist of the Week on Feb. 17.
