PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Four Providence College women's hockey standouts will represent their home countries at the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship, held April 9–20 in České Budějovice, Czechia. Graduate student Millie Sirum (Oslo, Norway) and alumnae Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany), Sara Hjalmarsson (Bankeryd, Sweden) and Noemi Neubauerová (Prague, Czech Republic) have each earned roster spots for the 10-nation tournament, which will take place at Budvar Arena.

Sirum, in her lone season at Providence after transferring from Holy Cross, appeared in 28 games and finished fourth on the team in scoring with 19 points (11 goals, eight assists). She recorded her first career hat trick on Nov. 8 against New Hampshire and added three multi-point games, 66 shots and 13 blocked shots. Internationally, Sirum has played in three U18 World Championships, four Women's World Championships, three Olympic Qualifying Tournaments and an appearance at the Youth Olympic Games.

Abstreiter, in her first season with the Montreal Victoire of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL), has appeared in three games with a .913 save percentage and 3.08 goals-against average over 117 minutes. This will be her fifth World Championship for Germany. At last year's tournament, she was named Top Goaltender after posting a .929 save percentage and one shutout in six games. A Friar from 2018–23, Abstreiter ranks fourth all-time in games played by a goaltender (105), compiling a 1.88 GAA, .931 save percentage and 15 shutouts.

Hjalmarsson returns for her sixth World Championship with Sweden. A two-time Olympian, she currently captains Linköping HC in the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL), tallying 23 points (12 goals, 11 assists) in 31 games this season. She played 150 games at Providence, ranking fourth all-time in appearances, while totaling 122 points (62 goals, 60 assists) and 13 game-winning goals.

Neubauerová, a 2024 PWHL Draft pick (No. 30 overall) by the Toronto Sceptres, has played in 20 games this season. This marks her seventh World Championship with Czechia, with whom she earned back-to-back bronze medals in 2022 and 2023 for the country's first ever medal. The forward made her Olympic debut in 2022. Neubauerová joined the Friars as a graduate transfer in 2022-23 and recorded 26 points (11 goals, 15 assists) in 36 games, finishing second in team scoring.

Czechia will compete in Group A, earning an automatic berth into the quarterfinals alongside Canada, the United States, Finland and Switzerland. Group B includes Germany, Sweden, Norway, Japan and Hungary, with the top three teams advancing.
