DEDHAM, Mass. – The Providence College men's and women's track teams competed at the Jay Carisella Invitational on Saturday, May 3 at the Solomon Track and Field Facility in Dedham, Mass.
On the men's side, Senior
Brett Lehman (East Greenwich, R.I.) won the 400 meters, finishing in a time of 47.84. Junior
Kyle Bloomer (Darien, Conn.) placed fifth in a time of 49.85.
Sophomore
Tyler Bartlett (Fairfield, Conn.) placed ninth in the 800 meters, crossing the line in 1:52.10. Sophomore William Johnston (Auckland, New Zealand) finished 10th with a time of 1:52.31.
Sophomore
Nick Cassarino (Durham, Conn.) competed in the 1,500 meters. Cassarino placed 11th in a time of 3:59.40 while freshman
Ryan Welch (Wyckoff, N.J.) finished 13th (3:59.87).
In the men's 4 x 100 the team of junior
Nico Fanuele (Wilmington, Mass.), junior
Will Rainey (San Jose, Calif.), freshman
Tucker Anglemeyer (Winnetka, Ill.) and junior
Nik Ventura (Jamison, Penn.) placed third in a time of 43.25, the second-fastest mark in program history.
In the triple jump Ventura finished fourth (12.88m).
On the women's side, freshman
Annie Mann (Hampshire, England) won the 800 meters in a time of 2:11.89. Sophomore
Polly Bogdan (Rochester, N.Y.) recorded a time of 2:13.64, placing fourth while sophomore
Shea Podbelski (Norton, Mass.) placed 10th (2:20.29).
Leading the Friars in the 1,500 meters was freshman
Emily Bush (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), in a time of 4:27.41 for third place. Freshman
Anna Gardiner (Downpatrick, Northern Ireland) placed fourth (4:29.64) and sophomore
Kiera Hall (Christchurch, New Zealand) finished ninth (4:37.69).
In the 400 meters, Junior Jillian Fenerty (Franklin, Mass.) placed third (56.76).
Junior
Charlotte Cousins (Madbury, N.H.) competed in the 100-meter hurdles, placing fourth in a time of 15.22.
In the 100 meters, sophomore
Cate Parks (Marion, Mass.) set a personal record and finished ninth in 12.71.
In the 200 meters, freshman
Chloe Higgins (Morristown, N.J) placed fifth (25.25), followed by freshman
Keira Kelly (Scotch Plains, N.J.) who placed sixth (25.51).
In the women's 4 x 100 the team of Cousins, Kelly, Parks and junior
Ava Russell (Babylon, N.Y.) placed second in a time of 48.71, the third-fastest mark in program history.
