Trio Of Friars Earn USILA Scholar All-America Honors; Men's Lacrosse Program Earned USILA Team Academic Award

Gregg Dennison, Jack Horrigan and Quinn McConnaughey named USILA Scholar All-Americans

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The USILA announced its 2025 men's lacrosse academic awards on Tuesday, July 1. Providence College was recognized for its success in the classroom, garnering the USILA Team Academic Award. Men's lacrosse seniors Gregg Dennison (Acton, Mass.), Jack Horrigan (Lutherville, Md.) and Quinn McConnaughey (Cohasset, Mass.) were named USILA Scholar All-Americans  
 
Providence College's three Scholar All-American honorees are tied for the most in program history for a single season. The team also had three honorees in 2021 when Dan Axelson (Cohasset, Mass.), Toby Burgdorf (Westfield, N.J.) and Emmett Jennings (Fair Haven, N.J.) were among the honorees.  
 
The team award is presented to any program with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher, of which Providence men's lacrosse exceeded with ease. Among multiple criteria, a Scholar All-American must have a senior year academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, along with being an All-American, member of a North/South team or an outstanding All-League or Conference Player.  
 
Dennison recorded a single-season career-high 16 caused turnovers, a mark that ranked tied for first on the team. The senior defender also tallied 25 groundballs in 2025. Dennison registered a career-high three caused turnovers and five groundballs versus Loyola (3/8). He was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll (3/10) and BIG EAST Defender of the Week (4/21). Dennison was recently named to the 2025 NEILA Division 1 All-Academic Team and previously earned NEILA All-New England Second-Team in 2024.   
 
Horrigan finished second on the team in points (51) and first in goals (43), both of which marked career-highs. His 43 goals rank second all-time in program history for a single-season. The senior attackman netted seven hat-tricks, including a career-high seven goals versus St. John's (4/25). He ranked first among NCAA Division I players in man-up goals (11). Horrigan completed his career at Providence ranked third in goals scored (116) and 14th in points (140). He was honored by the BIG EAST four times throughout the season on the Weekly Honor Roll (3/17, 3/31, 4/22, 4/28) and was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team. Horrigan was recently named to the 2025 NEILA Division 1 All-Academic Team.  
 
McConnaughey registered seven points on three goals and four assists for the Friars. The senior faceoff specialist recorded a career-high two goals at Bryant (2/8). He posted a .560 faceoff percentage on the season, having won 172-of-307 opportunities at the 'X'. McConnaughey won 19-29 faceoffs versus No. 19/17 Harvard (2/15) and 12-19 at No. 16/16 Denver (4/19). He led the team in groundballs on the season, with 80 and recorded single-season career highs in every major stat category in 2025. He was named BIG EAST Specialist of the Week once (2/17) and earned All-BIG EAST Second Team Honors. McConnaughey was named to the 2025 Division I NEILA All-New England Second Team and was recently named to the 2025 NEILA Division 1 All-Academic Team.
