PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College women's basketball Head Coach Erin Batth announced today [Aug. 25] that Austeja Babraitis has signed an athletic aid agreement to attend Providence, beginning this fall, and compete for the Friars.
Babraitis, a 6-2 forward, is a dual citizen of the United State and Lithuania. She has competed for Lithuania's national team at the U16 and U18 levels at several FIBA-sponsored events, including the 2024 U18 Women's EuroBasket (Division B), 2023 U18 Women's European Championship, 2022 U16 Women's European Championship and 2021 U16 Women's European Challengers Tournament. Babraitis also played for Kauno LSMU (Lithuania-D2).
"Austeja is a physical low-post player and we are excited to welcome her to Friartown," Batth said. "She has a high basketball IQ and has multiple moves on the block and a nice touch around the rim. She will provide us with depth in the front court and an interior presence on defense."
Providence is scheduled to open its 2025-26 campaign with an exhibition game against Franklin Pierce on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. The Friars officially open the season with a non-conference tilt against Howard on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at Alumni Hall.
