Jaylin Sellers Named BIG EAST Player Of The Week

Sellers led the Friars to a 2-0 mark last week after he averaged 28.5 points.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -  It was announced today (Feb. 9) that Providence College graduate student guard Jaylin Sellers (Columbus, Ga.) earned BIG EAST Player of the Week honors.  
 

Sellers led the Friars to a 2-0 mark last week. He averaged 28.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.5 steals.  He also shot 60.7 percent from the field (17-28), 56.3 percent from three (9-16) and 82.4 percent (14-17) from the free-throw line.  Sellers scored a career-high 36 points in a double overtime 97-87 win against Butler on Feb. 4.  He also grabbed six rebounds and made three steals.  He was 6-12 from three, 8-10 from the free throw line and 11-20 overall from the field.  On Feb. 7, Sellers registered 21 points in a 90-72 victory over DePaul.  He was 6-8 from the field, 3-4 from three and 6-7 from the free throw line.  He added four steals in the game.

For the season, Sellers is averaging 17.1 points and 3.9 rebounds.  He is shooting 40.2 percent from three (49-122) and 87.2 percent (102-117) from the free-throw line.

The Friars will return to action on Wednesday when they play at Seton Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Peacock.  The Friars will return home to face nationally ranked St. John's on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 1:00 p.m. on TNT/truTV.  Fans interested in purchasing tickets, can visit Friars.com or call 401-865-GO PC.
