Friars Add Two Assistant Swim Coaches

PROVIDENCE, RI - Providence College head swim coach John O'Neill announced today the hiring of two assistant coaches for the Friar swim squad. Rhode Island natives Kevin Salisbury and Newell Roberts have joined the staff effective immediately.

Kevin Salisbury joins the staff after having served as head coach at Clark University for the past nine years. He served as assistant coach at Brown University for two seasons and has extensive aquatics and age group coaching experience. He will assist with on-deck coaching as well as with recruiting. He currently serves as Assistant Athletic Director at the Community College of Rhode Island. Salisbury is married with three daughters and resides in North Smithfield, RI.

Newell Roberts returns to Providence as the head diving coach. He coached the Friars from 1984-1993 then moved on to the University of Rhode Island where he coached for two seasons. He has been involved in club coaching for more than 20 years. Roberts will be in charge of both the training and recruitment of divers for the Friars. He is a teacher in the Providence School system. Married with two children, Roberts resides in West Greenwich, RI.
