THE MAL BROWN AWARD
Established in 1940 in the memory of Malcolm H. Brown, this award is the oldest athletic accolade presented at the College. Donated and for many years presented by its founder, Edward P. Conaty '33, the Mal Brown Award is given to a graduating male student-athlete whose athletic career exemplifies the qualities Mal Brown stood for: Sportsmanship, Courage and Honor.

The College’s mission statement speaks of the power of grace to enlighten minds, open hearts and transform lives. To those who knew him, there was no one who lived that mission more fully than Fr. Robert A. Morris. For almost 60 years, he was a central figure in the Providence College community, most especially to our coaches, staff, administrators and, most importantly, our student-athletes. He was truly committed to the development of our students and was a tireless supporter of Friar athletics. This award is presented annually to a student-athlete who has had a profound impact on Providence College during their career as selected by the Athletic Director and the senior administrative staff.

THE DRISCOLL CUP
Formerly known as The Friar Cup, the name of the award was changed to the Driscoll Cup in 2022 to honor former Providence College Athletics Director Bob Driscoll. Driscoll served as AD for 21 years until his retirement on June 30, 2022. The winner of the Driscoll Cup is determined through a competition among all varsity teams each academic year, which provides student-athletes with the opportunity to earn points in various categories – competitive performance, academic performance and community service and involvement.

JACKIE ROBINSON AWARD
The Jackie Robinson Award, established in 2025 by Athletic Director Steve Napolillo, honors a student-athlete who inspires teammates, coaches and members of the Friar community to strive for excellence, show respect and bring out the best in others. Like Jackie Robinson himself, this individual leads by example, demonstrating integrity, perseverance and a commitment to uplifting those around them.
