Men's And Women's Swimming Defeat Fairfield

Fairfield, Conn..... The Providence College Women's Swimming and Diving team defeated Fairfield University on Nov. 6, 134-108. Leading the way for the Friars were sophomore Allison Buckley (Chelmsford, Mass.), freshman Amanda Pymm (Port Washington, N.Y.) and senior Meghan Robinson, (Plano, Texas). Buckley and Pymm were double winners in the 800 freestyle, 400 freestyle and the 1 meter and 3 meter diving, respectively. Robinson captured the 200 meter backstroke, placed second in the Individual Medley and swam the lead leg, of the victorious. 200 meter Medley Relay team. The Friars improved to 1-1 on the season and will return to action on Nov. 10 as they host Sacred Heart University at 6:30 p.m.
On the men's side, Providence College Swiming and Diving team defeated Fairfield University on Nov. 6, 131-109. Leading the way for the Friars were senior Joe Gesker (Herndon, Va.) and junior Michael Frenza (Watertown, Conn.). Gesker posted victories in the 800 meter freestyle and the 200 meter butterfly, while Frenza won the 400 meter freestyle, 200 meter freestyle and the 100 meter freestyle. The Friars evened thier record at 1-1 for the season, and will return to action on Nov. 9th when they host Big East rival Boston College at Taylor Natatorium at 6:30 p.m.
