Wake Forest Holds on to defeat Providence, 80-73

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Wake Forest Demon Deacons (2-1) defeated the Providence Friars (0-2) on Tuesday evening, 80-73 in the Providence Civic Center in Providence, RI. Down by as many as 14 points with six minutes remaining, the Friars closed the gap to get as close as 67-62 with 4:16 left, but couldn't get any closer. The Deacs held on for their second victory of the season and second consecutive win against the Friars.
Providence guard Chrissy Vozab (Fr, Amenia, NY) tallied a career high 30 points (12-15 fg) to lead all scorers. She was 5-7 from three-point territory, dished out five assists and played in all 40 minutes of the contest.
Wake Forest was led by Emon McMillian with a career high 23 points (9-15 fg) and a game high 12 boards. The Deacs shot 42% from the floor and held the Friars to only 36% and a season low 58% mark from the free-throw line. Wake Forest held the 49-40 advantage on the boards.
Providence travels to Chicago for the DePaul Thanksgiving Tournament and will face host DePaul on Friday evening at 9:00 pm (CST).
