Sara DeCosta Named ECAC Goaltender Of Week

Providence, R.I. -- Providence College junior Sara DeCosta (Warwick, R.I.) was named ECAC Goaltender of the Week on Jan. 10, 2000. DeCosta helped the Friars to a 0-0-2 record and made 77 saves against two of the league's top teams, she had 45 saves and allowed one goal in a overtime tie with Harvard, stopped all 32 shots she faced in a 0-0 overtime tie with Brown, in the Mayor's Cup. The 0-0 tie versus Brown, was DeCosta's fifth shutout of the season, for the weekend she posted a 0.46 goals against average and a .987 save percentage. For the season the junior netminder has posted 7-4-3 record with a 1.35 goals against average, and a .950 save percentage. This marks the second time this season that PC's Decosta has earned this honor, with the first coming on Oct. 25, 1999.

Providence will return to action on Jan. 15 at Maine, at 7:00 p.m.
