Providence Falls To Georgetown, 63-49

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Katie Smrcka-Duffy (Jr., Sterling, Va./James Madison) and Nathalie Bourdereau (Jr., River Ridge, La./Ridgewood Prep) each scored 18 points as Georgetown defeated Providence, 63-49. Georgetown improved to 15-10 overall and 8-6 in the BIG EAST with the win. It was the Hoyas fourth-straight win at home.

The Hoyas held the Friars (9-15, 4-10) to just 25 percent shooting in the game and never trailed in the contest. Georgetown took the lead for good midway through the first half, but the Friars stayed close and trailed by just nine at intermission. In the second half, the Friars cut the lead to single digits three times, but could not get any closer than nine points. Nok Duany (Fr., Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington North) was also in double figures for the Hoyas with 10 points. Suzy Bendegue (Fr., Cameroon, Africa/The Newport School (Md.) had a career-high 11 rebounds to go with eight points and five blocked shots.

Meghan Hinds (Sr., Perrysburg, Ohio/Notre Dame) led Providence with 19 points. Jen Gombotz (Jr., Southington, Conn./Southington) added 11 points, while Catrina Hawley-Stewart (So., West Haven, Conn./West Haven) led the team with 11 rebounds.

Georgetown will play at Pittsburgh on Saturday night, while Providence hosts Villanova on Saturday.
