Matthew Jarvis Earns GTE Academic All-District I Honors

Providence, R.I. -- It was announced on May 25 that Providence College sophomore Matthew Jarvis (Fairhaven, Mass.) earned 2000 GTE Academic Second Team All-District I Spring At-Large honors.

Jarvis, a computer science and mathematics major, has earned a cumulative grade point average of 4.0 in his two years at Providence College. This year, Jarvis compiled a singles mark of 11-18, while competing at the No. 4 position. At the 2000 BIG EAST Tennis Championships, Jarvis defeated Boston College's Tim Brennan 6-4, 6-1 in the Friars' opening round upset victory over the Eagles.

A 1998 graduate of Bishop Stang High School, Jarvis is the son of Raymond and Diane Jarvis.
