Women's Basketball Wins Season Opener, 69-62.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's basketball team defeated St. Bonaventure, 69-62, in the Friars home-opener, on Wednesday, November 21 in Providence, Rhode Island.
Graduate Student Dani Trippany (Massena, N.Y.) led four Friars in double figures, with a game-high 15 points. Junior Brooke Freeburg (Waterford, Pa.) scored 12 points and registered six rebounds, two assists and one steal. Sophomore Jenese Wilcox (Port Chester, N.Y.) also scored 12 points for the Friars, and recorded a game-high nine rebounds and three blocked shots. Senior Catrina Hawley-Stewart (West Haven, Conn.) rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points, and added five rebounds. Senior Chrissy Vozab (Amenia, N.Y.) dished out a game and season-high nine assists.
Vozab (Amenia, N.Y.) and freshman center Jessica Simmonds (South Orange, N.J.) collected five steals each. The Friars finished the game with 18 steals on 25 St. Bonaventure turnovers. Providence committed a season-low 15 turnovers in the game.
Forward Courtney Mattingly and center Angela Scott scored 12 points each for the Bonnies. Mattingly also led the Bonnies with four assists and two steals. Guard Stefanie Collins added 10 points.
Providence improves to 2-1 overall on the season, and will face Marist on Saturday, November 24 at 2:00 p.m. in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. St. Bonaventure falls to 1-2 on the year.
