University of Rhode Island (2-1): The University of Rhode Island comes to Alumni Hall, on the campus of Providence College with a 2-1 overall record. Last season, the Providence defeated URI, 87-65, in Kingston, R.I. on November 29, 2000. The Rams trail the all-time series with the Friars, 26-6. The Rams last win over Providence was a, 63-55, victory on December 1, 1998 in Kingston, R.I.
In the Rhode Island's most recent action, the Rams fell to Connecticut, 84-38, on Saturday, November 24 at the Hartford Civic Center in Hartford, Conn. Guard Hilary Goodrich was the only Ram in double figures with 14 points. Yatar Kuyateh leads Rhode Island with 12.7 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. Goodrich is second on the team in scoring, with 10.0 points per contest.
Providence College (3-1): The Providence College women's basketball team hosts the University of Rhode Island on Tuesday, November 27 at 7:00 p.m. in Providence, R.I. The Friars currently hold a 3-1 overall record, while the Rams stand at 2-1 on the season. Last season, the Friars defeated URI, 87-65, in Kingston, R.I. on November 29, 2000. The Friars defeated Marist College, 81-70, in the teams' most recent game, on Saturday, November 24, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Senior guard Chrissy Vozab (Amenia, N.Y.) and graduate student Dani Trippany (Massena, N.Y.) scored 17 points each to lead the Friars offensively. Freshman forward/center Jessica Simmonds (South Orange, N.J.) and sophomore forward Jenese Wilcox (Port Chester, N.Y.) added 10 points each. Junior guard/forward Brooke Freeburg (Waterford, Pa.) pulled down a game-high nine rebounds and scored six points. Vozab leads the Friars, through four games, averaging 10.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. She is second on the team in steals with 2.3 thefts per game. Simmonds is averaging 9.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per game, while Trippany is averaging 9.5 points per game.
