MORGANTOWN, W. Va. - The Providence College women's basketball team suffered a, 65-50, defeat against BIG EAST foe West Virginia, on Saturday, in Morgantown, West Virginia.
Freshman forward Michal Epstein (Rehovot, Israel) scored a team-high 14 points to pace the Friar offense. Graduate student Dani Trippany (Massena, N.Y.) added 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds in the effort.
Providence, who never led at any point during the game, trailed by just four points at the half, 31-27. The Friars shot a dismal 25.7-percent from the field in the second half, while the Mountaineers connected on 52.2-percent of their attempts from the floor to earn a commanding ,65-60, victory.
Yolanda Paige and Kate Bulger scored 18 points each for WVU. Eartha White grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
Providence falls to 11-13 overall on the season, and 5-8 in the BIG EAST. The Friars travel to Storrs, Connecticut on Wednesday, February 20, to take on the #1 UConn Huskies at 7:30 p.m., in Gampel Pavilion.
