PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Diana Taurasi scored 20 points, and Swin Cash had 14 points, seven rebounds and six assists to lead No. 1 Connecticut to an 85-61 victory over Providence on Sunday.
Senior point guard Sue Bird had 13 points and three assists, giving her 500 career assists. Bird and Jennifer Rizzotti are the only UConn players with 1,000 points, 500 assists and 200 steals.
The Huskies (24-0, 10-0 Big East) forced 35 turnovers, 23 in the first half.
UConn shot 57 percent (20-of-35) in the first half and 53 percent (33-of-62) for the game.
Guard Michal Epstein scored a game-high 23 points for Providence (8-12, 2-7). She shot 7-for-10 from the field, including 4-for-6 on 3-pointers.
Connecticut raced to a 35-12 lead before Epstein scored eight points in the span of just a minute late in the first half on a pair of 3-pointers and two free throws.
