Swimming And Diving Defeats Fairfield

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's and women's swimming and diving teams each defeated Fairfield University Saturday afternoon at PC's Taylor Natatorium. The men's team won eight events and captured the meet by a score of 123-113, while the women's team took nine events and posted a 138-105.
Junior Annie Nemeth (Pittsburgh, Pa.) led the way for the Providence women's team with two first-place finishes. She won the 200-meter IM with a time of 2:31.57 and won the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:18.21. Nemeth also was a member of the 400-meter medley relay team that finished first with a time of 4:29.08.
Freshman Blair Flynn (Middletown, R.I.) had a strong collegiate debut as she won the 100-meter backstroke and was a member of the 400-meter medley relay team. Junior Katelyn Flynn (Sinking Spring, Pa.) won the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 4:48.84 and also was a member of the 400-meter medley relay team.
Providence swimming and diving returns to action on Friday, Oct. 28th at Loyola. The meet begins at 6:00 p.m.
