Women's Hoops Defeats New Hampshire, 79-53

DURHAM, N.H. - The Providence College women's basketball team defeated New Hampshire, 79-53, at Lundholm Gymnasium in Durham, N.H. on November 28. Senior Shauna Snyder (Albuquerque, N.M.) led Providence with 26 points. The Friars improve to 7-1 overall,while UNH drops to 2-3 on the season.
In the first half, Snyder propelled the Friars to a 40-22 lead at halftime as she connected on all seven of her shot attempts from the floor, including a three-of-three performance from beyond the arc for 19 points. Freshman Kendria Holmes (Charlotte, N.C.) added nine first-half points to go along with six assists. As a team the Friars shot 57.1-percent in the half (16-28). UNH was led by Ray Williams and Amy Simpson in the opening 20 minutes as each recorded six points.
In the second half, PC converted 15 of their 24 shot attempts from the field for a 0.625 shooting percentage. The Friars ended up 31-of-52 from the field (.596), including 10-of-18 (.556) from the three-point arc.
Holmes finished with nine points and eight assists. Sophomore Chelsea Marandola (Johnston, R.I.) netted 13 points and grabbed a team-high six rebounds. Sophomore Catherine Bove (Cincinnati, Ohio) scored 15 points for PC.
The Wildcats were led by Whitney Edwards' 12 points. Simpson netted 11, while Danielle Clark recorded 10.
Providence (7-1) returns to action on Friday, December 1 against Sacred Heart at 7:00 p.m. The game will be played at the William H. Pitt Center in Fairfield, Conn.
