Providence Men's Swimming Defeated by Boston College

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's swimming team competed against Boston College at Taylor Natatorium on Tuesday, November 7 2006. The Eagles defeated the Friars by a score of 129-116. Top finishes for the Friars came in the 100 meter backstroke, the 50 meter butterfly, the 200 meter IM, and the 100 meter freestyle. Freshman Tim Reilly (Floral Park, N.Y.) took the first place finishes in the 100 meter backstroke (1:03.42) and the 200 meter IM (2:16.68). Sophomore Justin Rich (Branford, Conn.) placed first in the 50 meter butterfly in a time of 27.92. Following in behind Rich, sophomore Ryan Clark (Taunton, Mass.) and senior Tom McLoughlin (Leonardo, N.J.) took the second and third spots in times of 29.15 and 29.98, respectively. Freshman Mike Loftis (Branford, Conn.) finished first in the 100 meter freestyle in a time of 57.18. Also, the 200 meter medley relay squad of Reilly, sophomore Chris Ray (Basking Ridge, N.J.), Clark and McLoughlin finished second in a time of 1:55.35. Then men's swimming team, now holding a 2-3 record, returns to action on Saturday, November 11 when both the men's and women's swimming teams host Montclair State. The meet is slated to begin at 11:00 a.m.
