PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's basketball team fell to Seton Hall, 58-43, in BIG EAST Conference action on January 26 at Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I. Ebonie Williams led all scorers with 19 points for Seton Hall. Freshman Mi-Khida Hankins (Baltimore, Md.) tallied a team-best 16 points for the Friars.

Seton Hall scored the first basket of the game three-seconds into the action and never looked back. The Pirates scored six, unanswered points to begin the game and held a double-digit lead (20-10) with 11:44 left in the opening half. Providence cut the lead to seven on two occasions, with the last time coming at the 7:31 mark (22-15). Less than a minute later, Williams hit a three-point bucket to give Seton Hall a 10-point advantage (25-15) and the Pirates maintained a double-digit margin the rest of the game. SHU led 32-17 at halftime.

In the second half, Seton Hall pushed its lead to as many as 20 points (45-25) with 10:31 remaining in the game. The Friars managed to cut the lead to 11 (54-43) with an 18-9 scoring run with 1:01 left to play, but proved to be as close as Providence would get.

Joining Hankins in double figures for the Friars was sophomore Kendria Holmes (Charlotte, N.C.), who chipped in 12 points. Sophomore Emily Cournoyer (North Attleboro, Mass.) added nine points, while junior Shantee Darrian (Trenton, N.J.) hauled in a team-high nine rebounds.

Williams was the only Pirate to score double figures on the day. Amber Harris finished the night with nine points and eight rebounds. Noteisha Womack hauled in a game-high 12 boards and added six points.

The Friars (11-8, 1-5 BIG EAST) return to action on Wednesday, January 30 against 16th-ranked Notre Dame in a BIG EAST match-up. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Joyce Center in Notre Dame, Ind.
