PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Three Providence College field hockey players earned Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Region honors on Wednesday, November 19. Junior forward Nellie Poulin (Oakland, Maine) and senior midfielder/defender Jessica Lane (South Windsor, Conn.) were named to the All-Northeast Region First Team. Sophomore forward/midfielder Jaime Lipski (Dallas, Pa.) was named to the Second Team. Poulin and Lane's names will be under consideration for NFHCA All-America selection by virtue of their placements on the First Team.

Poulin enjoyed another stellar season with the Friars in 2008. She earned First-Team All-Northeast Region and All-BIG EAST honors for the second-straight season. She finished the year with a team-best 33 points on 16 goals and one assist. Her 16 goals on the year are the most scored by a Friar in a single-season since 1989, when Karen Krawchuk netted 24 goals. Additionally, five of her 16 goals have been game winners. In BIG EAST regular-season play, Poulin finished tied for third in the conference in goals, with eight tallies. Her eight goals came on just 15 shot attempts (2.5 shots per game). She managed to score at least one goal in five of six BIG EAST Conference regular-season games. She notched five multiple-goal games on the season, including her first career hat trick (three goals) against Georgetown on October 26. Poulin currently ranks ninth all-time in scoring at Providence with 80 points on 35 goals and 10 assists. Her 35 career goals also sits among the top-10 at Providence all-time in a three-way tie for seventh place.

Lane, despite missing six games with an injury, earned All-BIG EAST Second-Team honors for the second-straight season in addition to her second-consecutive stint on the All-Northeast Region First Team. In the 15 games she played, she recorded 12 points on three goals and six assists. Since returning from her injury on October 18 vs. Louisville, she saw action in six games and scored eight points on three goals and two assists. She scored the final points of her career on a goal vs. No. 2 Syracuse in the BIG EAST semifinals. Lane finishes her career tied for 26th on Providence's all-time scoring list with 43 career points on eight goals and 27 assists. Her 27 assists rank seventh all-time among Friar leaders. A year ago, Lane distributed a single-season career high of 18 assists, which was one shy of the program's single-season record of 19. That mark was set by Friar great Paula Wagoner in 1997.

Lipski, earns post-season honors for the first time in her career as a Second-Team All-Northeast Region selection. She eclipsed the 20-point plateau for the first time in her career with 20 points on six goals and eight assists. Her eight assists ranked second on the team, and four came during BIG EAST Conference play. One of her six goals was a game winner against Northeastern in a 2-1 victory in Boston, Mass. on September 4. Each of her offensive totals on the year marked single-season career highs.

The Friars finished the season with a 12-9 overall record and qualified for the BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship for the third-consecutive season. The last time the Friars appeared at the BIG EAST Tournament three-straight seasons dates back to the 1996, 1997 and 1998 campaigns. Providence also registered double-digit wins for the third-straight season, marking the longest such streak since reeling off double-digit wins in six-consecutive seasons from 1987 to 1992.
