The Providence College men's swimming & diving team hosted Villanova University on Saturday, January 24 in Providence, R.I. Coming off of a loss on Friday afternoon, the Friars dropped their third-straight meet, falling to the Wildcats, 140-84. The women's team did not compete.
Providence had two individual wins on the day, coming in the 100-meter freestyle and the 200-meter breaststroke. Junior Mathew Card (Bow, N.H.) took the 100-meter freestyle in a time of 54.66, and senior Chris Ray (Basking Ridge, N.J.) captured the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:42.80. The Friars also won the final event of the day, with junior Mike Loftis (Branford, Conn.), freshman Matt Green (Westfield, N.J.), senior Ryan Clark (Taunton, Mass.), and Card taking first in the 400-meter freestyle relay (3:45.86).
The Friars return to action on Saturday, January 31, when they host Holy Cross at home in Providence, R.I. Action at the Taylor Natatorium will begin at 11:00 a.m.
