Providence, R.I. - PROVIDENCE COLLEGE (4-6, 1-2 BIG EAST): The No. 19 Providence College field hockey team hits the road to take on No. 10 Boston College Monday, October 5 at 7:00 p.m. for a mid-season, non-conference matchup between two top-20 teams. The Friars are coming off their first BIG EAST Conference win this season, a 4-2 victory against Villanova on October 3. This is the first of four-consecutive road game for the Friars who enter the matchup with a 4-6 overall record and an 1-2 mark in BIG EAST Conference play.
The Friars rallied behind seniors Nellie Poulin (Oakland, Maine) and Adrienne Marois (Auburn, Mass.) who each provided two goals in the 4-2 victory against Villanova. The Friars held a clear shot advantage in the match up, 32-5, as well as penalty corners, 19-3. Poulin leads the team in points this season with 16. She also leads the team in goals scored with eight. Poulin has totaled 96 points for her career and sits four shy of 100. Junior Ashlyn Hudson (Stoughton, Mass.) is second on the team in points with seven on three goals and one assist. Marois is third on the team in scoring with six points. She has tallied six points on two goals and two assists.
Providence has earned victories in each of the last two meetings between the two teams. Last year, the Friars were able to come away with a, 2-1, double overtime win. The Friars' next matchup comes on Friday, October 9. The team will travel to New Brunswick, N.J. to take Rutgers at 3:00 p.m.
BOSTON COLLEGE (8-2, 1-2 ACC): The No. 10 Boston College field hockey team enters the match coming off a 3-2 win against No. 13 Duke on October, 3. Boston College's only two losses on the season have come against No. 1 Maryland and No. 4 Virginia. The Eagles are led by Chelsey Feole who has 31 points this season on 12 goals an seven assists. Janna Anctil has also played a big role in the Eagles offense with 17 points on six goals and five assists. Kristine Stigas has seen 679 minutes in goal and has a 2.52 goals against average with a .672 save percentage.
