PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's basketball team defeated USF, 64-57, in BIG EAST Conference play on Saturday, January 8 in Providence, R.I. The Friars improve to 8-7 overall and 1-2 in the BIG EAST. USF drops to 9-8 (0-3 BIG EAST).

USF took a 29-25 lead into the locker room at halftime. Providence led by as many as nine points in the half (21-12) with 8:03 remaining on the clock. The Bulls finished the half on a 17-4 scoring run. Senior Mi-Khida Hankins (Baltimore, Md.) led the Friars with eight points in the opening 20 minutes. USF's Daleisha Carn also had eight points.

In the second half, the Friars outscored the Bulls, 39-28 overall to take the come-back victory. With 17:34 remaining in the game, USF held its largest lead of the game (10 points) with the score showing 35-25, after making the first two buckets of the second half. The Friars went on an 18-7 run to regain the lead at 43-42 with 8:35 remaining and never looked back. The Friars' lead grew to as many as 11 (59-48) at the 2:25 mark.

Senior Trinity Hull (Cranston, R.I.) really set the tone for the Friars during their come back. She played 20 minutes off the bench and tallied nine points, three rebounds and a game-high four assists. All nine of her points and each of her rebounds came in the second half, along with three of her four assists.

Symone Roberts (New Britain, Conn.) led the Friars overall with 13 points, while junior Miranda Tate (Bolingbrook, Ill.) chipped in 12. Hankins finished the night with nine points and a game-high eight rebounds. Freshman Lauren Okafor (New Haven, Conn.) also had eight boards for the Friars.

Andrea Smith posted a game-high 20 points for USF, while Carn contributed 12 points.

Providence returns to action on Saturday, January 15 against BIG EAST foe Georgetown. The game will be televised live as part of the BIG EAST Game of the Week.
