TEMPE, ARIZ. - The Providence College women's basketball team fell to Arizona State, 86-65, on November 23 in Tempe, Ariz. The Friars drop to 4-2 overall on the season, while Arizona State improves to 3-1.

The Sun Devils went on a 12-4 run to close the first half of play and took a 45-36 lead into halftime. Arizona State shot 50-percent from the floor (17-34), while the Friars hit 40-percent of their shots (12-30). ASU's bench out-scored the Friars' bench 18-2. Sophomore Evi Iiskola (Espoo, Finland) and junior Tori Rule (Minneapolis, Minn.) each tallied 11 points for the Friars in the opening half. Joy Burke led the way for ASU with 12 points and added a team-best six rebounds.

In the second half, the Sun Devils pushed their lead to 16 (54-38) with a 9-2 spurt over the first three minutes of play. Providence cut the deficit to nine points on two occasions down the stretch, with the latest coming at the 9:16 mark (63-54). Arizona State took control of the game with a 14-0 run to take a 78-54 lead with 5:40 to play.

Rule completed the night with a game-high 22 points for the Friars. Freshman Sarah Beal (Matthews, N.C.) added 17 points, five rebounds, two steals and one assist. Iiskola finished with 11 points, four rebounds, two steals and one assist. Junior Alexis Harris (Detroit, Mich.) chipped in six points and a team-best six rebounds.

Promise Amukamara netted a team-best 16 points for ASU, while Burke finished with 14. Kelsey Moos registered a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards. Deja Mann and Elisha Davis added 12 points and 11 points, respectively.

The Friars return to action on Wednesday, November 27 against Albany. The game will be played at Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
