Women's Hoops Drops 72-56 Decision At Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio - The Providence College women's basketball team fell to Dayton, 72-56, on Nov. 26 at UD Arena in Dayton, Ohio. Senior forward Alexis Harris (Detroit, Mich.) paced the Friars with 16 points and seven boards.
Dayton took a 31-26 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Friars held a 26-25 lead at the 3:52 mark of the first half as Harris hit a lay-up from the left side of the key. Dayton closed the half with a 6-0 run, as the Friars were 0-6 from the field in the final three minutes of play. Harris led all scorers with 14 points on 6-11 shooting from the field. Andrea Hoover paced Dayton with 10 points.
In the second half, the Flyers of Dayton opened up a 20-point lead (61-41) with 7:27 remaining. Providence cut the deficit to 12, but proved to be as close as it could get down the stretch.
Freshman Allegra Botteghi (Bologna, Italy) added 13 points in the effort for Providence, while junior Evi Iiskola (Espoo, Finland) contributed eight points, three rebounds and three assists.
Hoover finished the night with 27 points and added nine rebounds, four assists and four steals. Ally Malott recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
The Friars return to action on Sunday, Nov. 30 against Bryant University. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. in Smithfield, R.I.
