PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The BIG EAST Conference released its post-season award winners and All-BIG EAST honorees for field hockey on Wednesday, Nov. 5. Five members of the Providence College field hockey team earned All-BIG EAST accolades, including graduate student Caitlin Malone (Ossining, N.Y.), who is a unanimous selection on the All-BIG EAST First Team.

Joining Malone on the First Team is senior forward Daniella Bernasconi (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) and senior defender Henni Tietze (Sankt Augustin, Germany). Freshman forward Megan Hamilton (Warrington, Pa.) and senior goalkeeper Deidra Clymer (South Windsor, Conn.) were named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team.

The Friars' three First-Team selections and the team's five All-BIG EAST honorees overall are the most for the program in a single season since 2007.

Malone, a center-mid, earns First-Team honors for the second-straight season and is a three-time All-BIG EAST selection overall, having been named to the Second Team in 2012. During the 2014 season, she has recorded nine points on three goals and three assists. She joined the program in 2010 as a walk-on, and has developed into one of the top players in NCAA Division I field hockey. In 67 career games with the Friars, Malone has tallied 42 points on 13 goals and 16 assists. Her assist total is tied for 17th all-time at Providence College.

Bernasconi is one of the most prolific scorers in program history, and earns All-BIG EAST First-Team honors for the first time in her career. In 2013, she was honored as a member of the Second Team. This season, she has recorded a career-high 34 points on 14 goals and six assists. It marks the second-straight season she has scored 30+ points. Bernasconi enters the weekend ranked eighth all-time in career goals at Providence (38) and 10th all-time in career scoring (84 points). Her six assists in 2014 also mark a single-season career high.

Tietze will close her career at Providence as a four-time All-BIG EAST selection, having earned First-Team honors in 2012 and 2014 and Second-Team recognition in 2011 and 2013. Tietze is one of only two players in program history to earn All-BIG EAST honors as a member of the First or Second Team four times in their career. Former Friar goalkeeper Rachel Chamberlain '10 was a First-Team selection for the Friars in 2006 and 2007 and a member of the Second Team in 2008 and 2009. Tietze has been an anchor for the Friars' defense at center-back during her tenure with the program. In 2014, she has collected 14 points on four goals and six assists, and owns a total of 59 points in her career (22 goals, 15 assists).

Hamilton leads the Friars in scoring with 36 points on 15 goals and six assists. Using available records dating back to the 1987 campaign (spanning the last 28 seasons), Hamilton's 36 points are the most recorded by a rookie at Providence College. She leads Providence with five, multi-goal games and also has scored two game-winning goals. Hamilton scored her first collegiate goal against 13th-ranked Boston College on Sept. 5.

Clymer earns post-season honors for the first time in her career as a member of the All-BIG EAST Second Team. She has played 1,319 minutes in the cage and owns a 2.12 goals-against average and a 0.636 save percentage. Clymer has collected 70 saves, and produced two shut-out victories this season. Her 11 victories in 2014 mark a career-high. For her career, Clymer has made 40 appearances in goal (2,773 minutes) and owns a 1.92 goals-against average and 0.698 save percentage.

Providence opens BIG EAST Tournament play as the No. 4 seed and will face No. 1 seed Connecticut in the semifinals at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7. Old Dominion claimed the No. 2 seed and will face No. 3 seed Temple at 1:00 p.m. All games will be played at Lennon Family Field in Providence, R.I.
