Sarah Beal Named To BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College senior guard Sarah Beal (Matthews, N.C.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for women's basketball on Monday, Dec. 26. It marks the third time this season that Beal has been recognized on the honor roll, and the eighth time in her career.
In the Friars' only game last week, Beal led the team with a season-high 19 points in a 62-58 victory over Monmouth. She shot 5-10 from the field (0.500) and 9-11 from the free-throw line (0.818). Beal also grabbed four rebounds and tallied one assist, one blocked shot and one steal.
Providence concluded non-conference play with an 8-3 overall record and will open BIG EAST Conference play this week with a pair of games against Xavier and Butler.
Providence will host Xavier in its 2016-17 BIG EAST opener on Wednesday, Dec. 28 at 7:00 p.m. It marks Providence first home game at Alumni Hall since Nov. 19. Since then, the Friars have played eight-consecutive road games and posted a 5-3 record.
Following the team's BIG EAST opener against Xavier, the Friars will remain home to host Butler on Friday, Dec. 30. Tip-off against the Bulldogs is set for Noon.
