Philadelphia, Penn. -
Risa Takenaka and Aidan Epstein both travelled to University of Pennsylvania this week to represent Providence College at Women's Tennis Regionals.
The Friars started off with a very competitive doubles match facing Syracuse University. The Takenaka/Epstein pair that has been so dominate all season let their natural chemistry be seen as they worked well together and mixed things up to keep their opponents on their toes. In the end, the duo fell just short, losing 8-5.
Head Coach, Jakob Klaeson concedes, "We have to give our opponents credit for playing the big points better than us today."
In the singles bracket, Takenaka was matched with a very strong opponent in Boston University's Emily Kim. It was a one-sided story from the beginning as Takenaka could never gain momentum in a 6-1, 6-0 loss.
Regionals concludes the scheduled matches for 2017. The Friars will return to action on Feb. 3, 2018 when they travel to Jersey City, N.J. to take on Saint Peters.
