The Providence College men's and women's swimming & diving team concluded competition at the BIG EAST Swimming & Diving Championships at the Nassau County Aquatic Center on Saturday, Feb. 25. Both the men and the women of the Friars finished in fifth place.
Junior Kendall Jerzyk (Madison, Conn.) earned her second podium spot of the week, this time in the 3-meter springboard. Jerzyk earned fifth place for the friars, tallying a score of 438.
Freshaman Grace Carey (West Chester, Pa.) and Senior Helen Smith (Belmont, Mass.) narrowly missed podium spots, each with a seventh place finish. Carey's was in the 1650-yard freestyle (17:18.08), while Smith notched her seventh place in the 200-yard backstroke (2:03.26).
On the men's side sophomore Ryan Trammell (Lake Mary, Fla.) placed ninth in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:05.05), finishing just 0.03 seconds shy of the school record.
With the conclusion of the BIG EAST Swimming & Diving Championships the Friars wrap up competition for the 2016-17 season.
