Providence College Ranked 64th In Latest Learfield Directors' Cup Standings

 Providence College is ranked 64th in the latest Learfield Directors' Cup standings. The latest set of winter sports rankings were released in a combined effort by NACDA and Learfield on April 7 as the Friars have accumulated 230 points thus far in the 2021-22 season.

In the latest release, the Providence College men's basketball team earned 64 points for their run to the Sweet Sixteen. The Friars' women's cross country team picked up 48 points by virtue of its 26th-place finish at the NCAA Championships on Nov. 20 in Tallahassee, Fla. The men's cross country team was awarded 29 points for its 32nd-place finish at the NCAA Championships. The men's soccer team earned 64 points after advancing to the third round of the NCAA Tournament, while the women's soccer team earned 25 points after making its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1993.

Providence remains atop the leaderboard among all Division I non-FBS/FCS institutions. The Friars are ranked third among BIG EAST Conference members in the recent set of Learfield Directors' Cup Standings. Villanova currently ranks 28th (373 points), while Georgetown is second among BIG EAST members and 62nd overall (241 points).

Last year, Providence College finished 206th in the Learfield Directors' Cup final standings.

The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
