BOSTON, Mass. – The No. 7 seed Providence College men's hockey team fell to No. 1 seed Boston University in overtime, 2-1, in the Hockey East Semifinals on Friday (March 17) at TD Garden.
Bennett Schimek scored the Friars lone goal while netminder Philip Svedebäck finished with 23 saves.

- Both teams skated through the first period scoreless.
Drew Commesso kept the Friars at bay as Providence couldn't convert on either power play opportunity. The Friars outshot the Terriers 11-2.
-The score remained 0-0 heading the second intermission. Providence led in shots 23-8 and secured a kill on their first penalty of the night.
-Providence got on board first with a goal from
Bennett Schimek, his 11
th of the season, at 12:25 into the third period.
Liam Valente and
Uula Ruikka were each credited with an assist on the play after Schimek fired a shot from the half-wall that broke through the legs of Commesso.
-Terriers leveled the game at 1-1 at the 17:28 mark of the third from Dylan Peterson's goal.
-For the 15
th time this season and third-consecutive postseason game, Providence needed overtime to decide the game.
-At the 10:52 mark of overtime, Quinn Hutson scored the game-winning goal to give the Terriers a 2-1 win.
