The Friars will host New Hampshire in the Hockey East Opening Round on Wednesday.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. –  Drew Commesso stopped all 39 shots he faced as No. 7 Boston University earned a 2-0 shutout win over the Providence College men's hockey team on Saturday night (March 4) at Schneider Arena in the regular season finale. After tonight's results, the Friars will serve as the No. 7 seed in the Hockey East Tournament and host No. 10 seeded New Hampshire on Wednesday (March 8) in the Hockey East Opening Round.

NOTES
- The Friars held the momentum for a majority of the first period, outshooting the Terriers by a 15-5 margin.
- Austen Roden got tested early as he went post-to-post to rob Nick Zabaneh on a 2-on-1 in the opening minutes.
- It was Boston University that struck first as Jamie Armstrong finished off a rebound off the end boards at 18:26 of the period.
- The teams battled through a scoreless second period but tensions began to mount as the teams combined for 22 penalty minutes in the middle frame.
- Sam Stevens gave the Terriers an insurance goal 3:36 into the third period to put BU up 2-0.
- Brett Berard has Providence's best bid of the third period on a clean breakaway but his attempt rang off the post.
- The Friars couldn't solve Commesso with the extra attacker in the final minutes.
- The Friars finished the Hockey East regular season schedule at 9-9-6.
