Men’s Lacrosse Defeated St. John’s In Regular Season Finale, 16-10

Ryan Bell recorded six assists and broke his own Providence single-season assists record with 46.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. –The Providence College men's lacrosse team defeated St. Johns's (4-11, 0-5 BIG EAST), 16-10, on Friday, April 25 in Providence, R.I.  With the win, the Friars improved to 7-7 on the season and 3-2 in BIG EAST play. Ryan Bell (Smithtown, N.Y.) recorded a game-high eight points on two goals and six assists. He broke his own Providence single-season assist record with 46. He previously set the record with 45 assists in 2024. Jack Horrigan (Lutherville, Md.) recorded a career-high seven goals. The Friars clinched the No. 3 seed in the BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse Tournament and will face the No. 2-seed Villanova on Thursday, May 1. Faceoff is set for 9:00 (ET) on CBS Sports Network.  

 
1stQuarter: 

Rhett Chambers (Larchmont, N.Y.) opened the scoring action with an early goal that gave the Friars a 1-0 lead (13:44).  

• St. John's responded with back-to-back goals to take a 2-1 with lead with 8:38 remaining in the first half.  

Chris Jaskiewicz (Winter Park, Fla.) and Horrigan both found the back of the net to give Providence a 3-2 advantage at the 1:02 mark.  

• Providence outshot St. John's 14-12 in the first quarter.  

 
2ndQuarter: 

Richie Joseph (Longmeadow, Mass.) scored his first goal of the night, which extended the Friars lead to 4-2 (14:19).  

• The Red Storm responded with a goal that brought the score to 4-3 with 13:21 remaining in the first half.  

• Horrigan scored back-to-back goals that extended the Friars' lead to 6-3 with 6:44 remaining.  

• St. John's found the back of the net to narrow Providence's lead to 6-4 with 2:28 left in the half.  

• Providence outshot St. John's 28-22 in the first half.  

  

3rdQuarter: 

• Joseph and Horrigan scored back-to-back goals for the Friars and extended the team's lead to 8-4 (11:40).  

• St. John's responded with a goal at 10:47 to bring the score to 8-5.  

• Horrigan added another goal, followed by Albert Paniccia (East Norwich, N.Y.) to extend the Friars lead to 10-5 at 7:12.  

• The Red Storm scored with 4:45 remaining in the quarter, bringing the score to 10-6.  

• Horrigan scored his sixth goal of the night and put the Friars up 11-6 with 4:27 remaining in the period.  

• St. John's responded with back-to-back goals that cut the Friars' lead to 11-8 (3:03).  

• St. John's outshot Providence 13-11 in the third period of action.  

  

4thQuarter 

• Bell opened the fourth quarter with a goal at 12:07 to give Providence a 12-8 advantage. Horrigan followed with his career-high seventh goal of the night at 10:05.  

• St. John's answered with two consecutive goals to narrow the Friars lead to 13-9 with 6:25 remaining in the game.  

• Parker Kennedy, Bell and Will Ferarro each recorded a goal to put PC ahead 16-9 with 1:53 to play. Bell assisted Ferarro's goal to set the Providence College single-season assist record (46).

  

Notes: 

• Bell recorded eight points on two goals and six assists. The Friars' all-time leading scorer owns 231 career points (66 goals / 165 assists) and is the first player in program history to reach 200 points. Bell is also the program's all-time assist leader (165 assists).  

• With Bell's sixth assist at 1:53 in the fourth quarter, he set a new single-season assist record of 46, breaking his own previous mark of 45.  

• Horrigan recorded a career-high seven goals. The senior has recorded 138 career points (114 goals / 24 assists) and is tied for14th on the Friars' all-time scoring list. Horrigan's 114 career goals rank third in all-time goals scored at Providence.  

• Joseph netted three points on two goals and an assist. The junior has recorded 117 career points (86 goals / 31 assists) and is tied for 18th  on the Friars' all-time scoring list. Joseph's 86 career goals rank 14th in all-time goals scored at Providence.  

Dan Donahue (Weston, Mass.) recorded 13 saves on a .565 save percentage.  

• Three friars scored multiple goals in the team's win.  

• The Friars went 16-30 from the faceoff 'X' 

• The Friars recorded 11 caused turnovers and 29 ground balls.  

• Providence outshot St. John's 45-47.  

 

WHAT'S NEXT...The Friars clinched the No. 3 seed in the BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse Tournament and will face No. 2-seed Villanova on Thursday, May 1. Faceoff is set for 9:00 (ET) on CBS Sports Network.
