Friar Women’s Team Competes At NCAA Track Championship

Kimberley May places sixth in the 1,500 meter finals and Alex Millard finishes 10th in the 5,000 meters.

EUGENE, Ore. – The Providence Friars women's team competed on the final day at the NCAA Division I Track and Field Championship on Saturday June 14 at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Ore. 
 
Friar senior Kimberley May (Auckland, New Zealand), who was competing in her last race for PC, finished sixth in the 1,500 meter finals in a time of 4:10.79.  With her finish, May also earned First Teams All-America accolades.  It marked the eighth All-America honor of her career.

Also competing for the Friars, graduate student Alex Millard (Kent, England) ran the 5,000 meter finals in a time of 15:37.22.  She placed 10th and earned her third All-America honor this year. 

In addition to May and Millard earning All-America accolades, sophomore Maeve O'Neill (Cork, Ireland) earned Second Team All-America honors after she finished 13th (2:03.43) in the 800 meters semifinals on Thursday.  Graduate student Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England) ran in the 1,500 meters semifinals on Thursday and placed 20th to earn Honorable Mention All-America accolades.
