Women’s Track To Run At NCAA Championship

Kimberley May and Shannon Flockhart will run the 1,500 meter semifinals, Maeve O’Neill will compete in the 800-meter semifinals and Alex Millard will race in the 5,000-meter final.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track And Field Championship will take place on June 11-14 at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Ore. The Providence women's track team will be represented by senior Kimberley May (Auckland, New Zealand), graduate student Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England), sophomore Maeve O'Neill (Cork, Ireland) and graduate student Alex Millard (Kent, England).

May and Flockhart are two of the 24 athletes who qualified for the 1,500-meter semifinals, which will be run on Thursday, June 12 at 7:21 p.m. EST in Eugene, Ore.  Twelve of the 24 athletes will advance from the semifinals to run in the 1,500-meter finals on Saturday, June 14 at 9:11 p.m. EST.

May, a seven time All-American, placed second in the 1,500 meters at the Raleigh Relays with a time of 4:06.58.  The senior was a member of the team that won the 4 x 1,500 at Penn Relays in a program record time of 16:59.65, the third-best time in collegiate history. At the 2025 BIG EAST Outdoor Championship, May claimed the 5,000-meter title for the second year in a row in 15:50.04 and was a member of the 4 x 800-meter relay team that claimed first in a BIG EAST and school record time of 8:31.87.  At the NCAA Prelims in Jacksonville, Fla. she won her first-round heat in a time of 4:09.57. May finished fourth in the second heat of the 1,500-meter quarterfinals in a personal best time of 4:06.31 to qualify for the NCAA Championship.

Flockhart, an eight-time All-American, won the mile at the Friar Invitational in a time of 4:34.96. At Penn Relays, Flockhart was a member of the team that won the 4 x 1,500 in a program record time of 16:59.65, the third-best time in collegiate history. The graduate student captured the 1,500-meter title at the 2025 BIG EAST Outdoor Championship with a time of 4:12.03 and was a member of the 4 x 800-meter relay team that claimed first in a BIG EAST and school record time of 8:31.87. Flockhart won her first-round heat of the 1,500 meters at the NCAA Prelims in Jacksonville, Fla. in 4:14.81 and followed it up with a first-place finish in the quarterfinals in a program and facility record time of 4:04.97, the fourth best time in collegiate history.

O'Neill, an All-American, will run in the 800-meter semifinals for the Friars on Thursday, June 12 at 8:58 p.m. EST. 12 of the 24 athletes will advance to run in the 800-meter finals on Saturday, June 14 at 10:14 p.m. EST.

The sophomore finished fifth in the 800 meters at the Raleigh Relays with a time of 2:04.97. She followed it up by winning the 800 meters at the Friar Invitational in 2:05.17. At the 2025 BIG EAST Outdoor Championship, O'Neill placed fourth in the 800-meter finals and was a member of the 4 x 800-meter relay team that claimed first in a BIG EAST and school record time of 8:31.87. At the NCAA Prelims in Jacksonville, Fla., O'Neill placed 12th in the 800-meter first-round in a program record time of 2:03.04. In the quarterfinal round, she ran a time of 2:03.44 and finished third in her heat to qualify for the semifinals.

Competing in the 5,000-meter finals will be graduate student Millard on Saturday, June 14 at 10:55 p.m. EST. A two-time All-American, Millard won the 5,000 meters at the Raleigh Relays in a personal-best time of 15:27.02. She followed it up with a second-place finish in the mile at the Friar Invitational (4:36.12). The graduate student anchored the team that won the 4 x 1,500 at Penn Relays in a program record time of 16:59.65, the third-best time in collegiate history. Millard finished runner up at the 2025 BIG EAST Outdoor Championship in the 10,000 meters in a time of 32:53.97. At the NCAA Prelims, Millard finished eighth in the 5,000-meter semifinals in 15:28.91 to qualify for the finals at the NCAA Championship.
