Two Friars Win BIG EAST Weekly Honors For Women’s Soccer

Ellie Thallman earned Goalkeeper of the Week and Lily Gibbs was named Freshman of the Week.
NEW YORK, N.Y. - Providence College women's soccer players Ellie Thallman (Northville, Mich.) and Lily Gibbs (Dedham, Mass.) earned BIG EAST Weekly Honors on Monday, Aug 18. Thallman was named Goalkeeper of the Week and Gibbs was named Freshman of the Week following Providence's 1-0 victory over Army in the team's season-opener on Thursday, Aug. 14.
Thallman recorded a clean sheet in the Friars' shutout win over Army in the team's season-opener. The graduate student registered five saves and anchored Providence's defense with 90 minutes in net.
Gibbs scored her first career goal for the Friars in the team's 1-0 win over Army. The redshirt freshman made her debut for Providence's starting lineup and tallied 40 minutes. Her goal marked the game-winner in the 72nd minute of action.
The Friars will return to action on Sunday, Aug. 24 when they travel to Boston, Mass. to face Northeastern at 6:00 PM. The match will be streamed on FloCollege.
