Providence Women’s Soccer Secures 2-1 Road Win At Northeastern

Courtnee Pickles delivered the game-winning goal to complete the comeback.

BOSTON, Mass. - The Providence College women's soccer team defeated the Northeastern Huskies (0-2-1), 2-1, in a road matchup on Aug. 24 in Boston, Mass. The Friars improved to 2-0-0 overall. Freshman Courtnee Pickles (Methuen, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal, marking her first career tally. Redshirt freshman Amaya Coffie (Warwick, R.I.) recorded her first goal to help secure the win.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
• Both teams were held scoreless in the first half. Northeastern outshot Providence, 5-4, in the opening 45 minutes.
• Bridget Gleason scored for Northeastern in the 49th minute (48:42) and gave the Huskies a 1-0 lead. Her goal was assisted by Lughano Nyondo.
• In the 61st minute (60:45), Amaya Coffie (Warwick, R.I.) scored her first career goal with a shot inside the box, beating the keeper on the left side of the net. Her goal was assisted by Emma Gregorski (South Glastonbury, Conn.), leveling the score at 1-1.
Courtnee Pickles (Methuen, Mass.) scored her first career goal in the 67th minute (66:48) to give the Friars a 2-1 lead. Colleen Casey (Franklin, Mass.) deflected an errant goal kick forward to assist Pickles on a breakaway score.
• The Friars' defense limited the Huskies to only two shots on goal.
• Providence is now 5-3-1 all-time against Northeastern.
