Stidham has spent last season as an assistant coach at Austin Peay.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College women's soccer Head Coach Sam Lopes announced today (Aug. 7) the hiring of Grant Stidham as an assistant coach, who will work directly with the program's goalkeepers.

"We're excited to welcome Grant to our program as our new assistant goalkeeper coach," Lopes said. "He brings a fresh perspective, high-level technical knowledge and a real passion for developing confident, modern goalkeepers. As a rising coach, Grant will connect well with our players and bring the kind of energy and commitment that will elevate our program for years to come."

Stidham was most recently an assistant goalkeeper coach for Austin Peay University during the 2024 season. He helped the Govenors to a 9-6-6 record and a first-round appearance in the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament. Stidham assisted the head coach with designing practice and scheduling individual player workouts, planned and executed goalkeeper specific training sessions, assisted in player identification and recruiting and managed team travel and logistics. He also assisted with scouting analysis and game film breakdown analysis to support player and team performance.

Under Stidham, Austin Peay ranked second in the ASUN in save percentage (.789) and third in goals against average (1.26). He also helped coach five members of the program to All-ASUN Conference Teams.

Prior to Austin Peay, Stidham coached at his alma mater, UNC-Asheville, during the 2023 season. He helped guide the Bulldogs to their first winning record since 2005 (7-6-4). During his lone season on the Bulldogs' sideline, UNCA goalkeepers combined for a 1.12 goals-against average – the lowest mark in the program's digital record-keeping era – while also tallying five shutouts.

In addition to his college coaching experience, Stidham served as Assistant Goalkeeper Director and Classic Coach at Highland Football Club in Asheville, N.C. for three seasons (2021-24).

Stidham was a four-year goalkeeper for the UNC-Asheville men's soccer team (2018-22), where he helped lead the team to the Big South Conference Tournament in 2021. He also competed for Tobacco Road in USL League Two (2020-21).

A native of Fuquay Varina, N.C., Stidham earned his bachelor's degree in history and a teaching license from UNC-Asheville in 2023. He earned a Master's degree in Soccer Coaching from Ohio University in May 2025.
