PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College women's basketball Head Coach Erin Batth announced today [March 23] that Marlene Mbilima (Kinshasa, DRC) has signed an athletic aid agreement and will attend Providence and compete for the program in 2026-27.

Mbilima, a 6-3 center, currently attends Athens Christian School in Athens, Ga., where she was a four-year starter for Coach Jeff Vaughn. During her career, she averaged a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds per game. She tallied a career-best 31 points vs. North Oconee and hauled in a personal-best of 24 rebounds against Elbert County. Mbilima is a two-time First Team All-State and First-Team All-Region selection. Additionally, she is ranked No. 4 in the Class of 2026 for the State of Georgia according to Prep Girls Hoops. She helped guide her team to back-to-back appearances in the State Championship game (2025, 2026) and claimed the title in 2026. Mblima also helped her team capture to regional crowns.

"Marlene is a dynamic forward that attacks the rim with multiple post moves, but also stretches the floor and can nail the three from the perimeter," Batth said. "She sprints the floor and is a great addition to our transition game. She also is a great defender and shot blocker. We expect her to be a force on the glass as well."

Mbilima's teammate at Athens Christian School, Voldie Basana, also signed an athletic aid agreement in November to attend Providence.
