Sabou Gueye Named To All-BIG EAST First Team

Gueye is just the second Friar in the last 32 seasons to earn All-BIG EAST First Team honors and first since 2010.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The BIG EAST Conference released its postseason awards today [March 5]. Providence College graduate student guard Sabou Gueye (Dakar, Senegal) was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team. 
 
Gueye, a unanimous selection, is the 11th player in program history to earn All-BIG EAST First Team honors. The group combined to claim the recognition 14 times. She is just the second Friar in the last 32 seasons to earn First Team accolades and the first since Chelsea Marandola in 2010.
 
In her first year with the Friars, Gueye averaged a team-best 15.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 49-percent from the field (195-399) and 76-percent from the free-throw line (70-92). She also contributed 2.0 assists and 1.8 steals per game through 31 regular-season contests. During BIG EAST action, Gueye started all 20 games and averaged 15.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game.
 
She ranks first on the team in double-digit scoring games (23), 20-point games (eight) and second in double-doubles (two) and double-digit rebounding games (three). Gueye scored a career-high 29 points against Xavier on Feb. 8
 
During the 2025-26 campaign, Gueye was an eight-time BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll selection. She is currently pursuing a Master of Education in Higher Ed. at Providence College. Prior to her arrival at Providence, she spent two seasons at New Mexico State University (2022-24) and one season at Florida A&M (2024-25).

The Friars enter BIG EAST Tournament action as the No. 7 seed and will face No. 10 seed DePaul in the First Round on Friday, March 6. Tipoff is slated for 1:30 p.m. at Mohegan Sun Arena. The winner of Friday's First Round game will advance to the Quarterfinals on Saturday, March 7 to face No. 2 seed Villanova at 7:00 p.m. All games will be broadcast on Peacock.
