Reichen Kirchmair Selected In 2026 PWHL Draft

Kirchmair was drafted by the PWHL San Jose in the sixth round.
DETROIT, Mich. – Former Friar Reichen Kirchmair '26 was selected in the sixth round (64th overall) by PWHL San Jose in the 2026 Professional Women's Hockey League Draft, held at Fox Theatre in Detroit, Mich., on Wednesday, June 17. Kirchmair became the fifth Friar in program history to be selected in the PWHL Draft, joining Brooke Becker '24, '25G (2025), Sara Hjalmarsson '22, '23G (2025), Sandra Abstreiter '22, '23G (2023) and Noemi Neubauerová '23G (2024).
Kirchmair, the 2024-25 Hockey East Player of the Year, played in all 35 games during the 2025-26 season, finishing 16th all-time in program history with 142 games played. She served as team captain during her senior season, leading the team in scoring for the second consecutive year with 25 points on 14 goals and 11 assists. Kirchmair reached the 100-point club (55 goals, 45 assists) in the final regular-season game with a goal, becoming the 29th player in program history to reach the mark. She led the team in power-play goals with five and game-winning goals with three while posting five multi-point games, including a four-goal performance against the University of St. Thomas. In 2024-25, Kirchmair became the second Friar and the first since 2004-05 to earn Hockey East Player of the Year honors. She won the Hockey East scoring title with 30 points (15 goals, 15 assists) in conference play, becoming the first Friar to do so since 2002-03. Kirchmair led the league in goals, becoming just the second Friar to accomplish that feat. She earned Hockey East First Team honors as the only unanimous selection while being named Hockey East Player of the Week three times during the season.
