About Providence College Pep Band
The Providence College Pep Band is an instrumental group that features full brass, saxophone, and rhythm sections. The band supports Providence College at men's and women's basketball and ice hockey games, as well as special campus events. Each year, the band travels with the men's basketball team and men's ice hockey team throughout the duration of postseason play. The men's basketball team competes in the BIG EAST Tournament in early March at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The men's ice hockey team travels to TD Garden in Boston for the semifinal and championship round of the Hockey East Tournament. Both the men's basketball and men's ice hockey team have advanced to the NCAA Tournament for five consecutive seasons (2014-2018), giving the pep band more opportunities to travel the country.
Interested in Joining?
The pep band is always looking for new members. All students with an instrumental background are welcome. The band rehearses weekly on Thursday evenings from 7:00pm-9:00pm on campus in the Smith Center for the Arts.
New members who do not already play a brass, saxophone, or rhythm section instrument are expected to obtain necessary proficiency. Rhythm section positions are earned by audition only. Any student who does not have their own instrument should inquire about availability of school instruments.
Members that are registered for the Pep Band course can earn 0.5 credits for their participation each semester. It is required for members to attend 80% of the games that the band plays each semester, but does adapt it's schedule to avoid conflict with exams and school holidays.
Interested students can email pcpepband@gmail.com for more information.
