PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College Friars kept their BIG EAST Playoffs hopes alive with a 1-0 victory over Seton Hall in men's BIG EAST soccer action at Providence, R.I. on Sunday, October 31.

The Friars entered the game needing no less than a win to stay in the hunt for the final BIG EAST Playoff spot and got the victory with a goal by sophomore Tom Blesso (Billerica, Mass.) at the 60:21 mark. Blesso took a pass from junior Kevin Jones and split the Seton Hall defenders before chipping a shot over Seton Hall goalkeeper Efren Aguirre (Georgetown, Texas) for the gamewinner.

PC sophomore goalkeeper Danny Glynn (Manchester, England) made six stops and earned his second shutout of the season. Aguirre made two saves for the Pirates.

With the win, Providence improved to 7-8-1 overall and 5-6 in league play, while Seton Hall fell to 9-7 overall and 5-5 in league play.

The Friars have completed their BIG EAST portion of the schedule and will await the outcome of the Seton Hall vs. Georgetown game on Wednesday, Nov. 3 to determine their playoff fate. If Seton Hall or Notre Dame win that game, then the Friars will make the playoffs. If Seton Hall and Notre Dame play to a tie, then the Friars will not qualify for the playoffs.

Providence College will close out its regular season on Tuesday, November 2 against Dartmouth at Hanover, N.H. at 2:00 p.m.
